Science

At Richard de Clare, we are committed to providing a high-quality science education that ignites a natural curiosity in our pupils and helps them to understand and interact with the world around them.

We follow the White Rose Science scheme of learning in Year 1 to Year 6. This breaks down the National Curriculum content into ‘small steps’, meaning that scientific knowledge and vocabulary are carefully sequenced and explicitly taught. This approach enables our pupils to leave the school with the foundational knowledge in biology, chemistry and physics required for the next steps in their scientific learning.

At every stage, pupils are taught the skills of ‘working scientifically’ by engaging in scientific enquiry. They have opportunities within every unit of learning to pose scientific questions, make predictions, take measurements and record their findings, and use these to draw conclusions and notice patterns.

Bridge Academy Trust

We are a collegiate and collaborative Trust, where, first and foremost, each school is a place of (high quality) learning, where young people ENJOY, ENRICH, ACHIEVE, ASPIRE.
